Exhorting people to know and make known Jesus Christ |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
There are many good reasons why the Church should evangelise, some are listed below. We would urge each of you to give serious consideration to the scriptures and then ask the Lord to use you to reach out with the good news of Jesus Christ. |
|
|
|
It is commanded by God |
|
|
In His word, Mark chapter 16 verse 15, He clearly calls each one of us to, Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. |
|
|
In Matthew chapter 28 verse 19 it says to, Go therefore and make disciples of all nations. |
|
|
And 1 Peter chapter 3 verse 15 says, Always be ready to give a defence to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear. |
|
People without Christ are lost for eternity |
|
|
Many people are heading for the wide gate that leads to destruction. Few find the narrow gate to eternal life [see Matthew chapter 7 verses 13 and 14]. |
|
|
Eternal punishment awaits the lost [see Matthew chapter 25 verse 46 and 2 Thessalonians chapter 1 verse 9]. |
|
|
Hell is a reality and not, as many would suggest, a figment of the imagination [see Lukes gospel chapter 16 verses 19 to 31 and Revelation chapter 14 verses 9 to 11]. |
|
|
Everyone without Christ is destined for hell because all have sinned [see Romans chapter 3 verse 23 and Revelation chapter 21 verse 8]. |
|
|
Salvation can only be received from Jesus Christ, man cannot save himself or anyone else [see Titus chapter 3 verses 4 to 7 and Psalm 49 verse 7]. |
|
|
There are no second opportunities [see Hebrews chapter 9 verse 27 and Revelation chapter 21 verse 27]. |
|
There is only one way to be saved. |
|
|
Jesus said in Johns gospel chapter 14 verse 6 that, I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. In Acts chapter 4 verse 12 it says there is salvation only in Jesus. There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. |
|
|
The first book of John chapter 2 verse 2 says that Christ died for the whole world. |
|
|
As it says in Ephesians chapter 2 verses 8 to 9, For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. |
|
To be born again is a unique experience |
|
|
The second book of Corinthians chapter 5 verse 17 says that if any one is in Christ he is a new creation. The old things have passed away and all things have become new. |
|
|
In John chapter 10 verses 27 to 28 it says that His sheep hear His voice and He will give them eternal life. They will never perish neither will anyone snatch them out of His hand. |
|
The gospel will be preached in all the world |
|
|
Matthew chapter 24 verse 14 promises that the whole world will be evangelised, then the end will come. |
|
|
All Christians should follow the example of the early church who evangelised [see Acts chapter 1 verse 8 and Acts chapter 8 verses 1 to 40]. |
|
|
You should count the cost. Are you prepared to pay that cost? [see Mathew chapter 10 verses 16 to 20]. |
|
You can be used by God to proclaim the gospel |
|
|
It says in Matthew chapter 9 verses 37 to 38 the harvest is plentiful but the labourers are few, therefore, ask God to send you out into His harvest. |
|
|
In John chapter 4 verse 39 it says how one womans testimony caused many people in her city to believe in Jesus Christ. If one woman can have such an effect, think what every Christian in the world could achieve in Christ if they followed her example and proclaimed the good news. |
|
|
The harvest is ready for harvesting today just as it was when Jesus said in John chapter 4 verse 35, Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are white for the harvest! |
|
|
As it says in Romans chapter 10 verses 14 to 15, how can people call on Jesus if they have not had the gospel preached to them. But how beautiful are the feet of those who preach this good news! |
|
The judgment seat of Christ is real |
|
|
Both Romans chapter 14 verses 10 to 12 and 2 Corinthians chapter 5 verse 10 confirm that all must stand before the judgment seat of Christ. |
|
|
In 1 Corinthians chapter 3 verses 12 to 13 it says the fire will test your work, to determine what sort it is. |
|
|
A man who has much wealth yet loses his own soul has lost the one thing that will have eternal value as it says in Mark chapter 8 verse 36. |
|
There are two things you are called to do in this life - to know Jesus [see John chapter 17 verse 3]; and to make Him known [see in John chapter 17 verse 18]. |
|
To sum up, you are called to be a witness to others about the Lord Jesus Christ. As it says in Acts chapter 1 verse 8, You shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. |
