Testimonies are a great way of sharing how the Lord has affected your life. An example of how to share your testimony can be found in Acts chapter 26. Here Paul is speaking with King Agrippa and he has broken his testimony into three areas - his life before his conversion [verses 1 to 11]; his conversion [verses 12 to 18]; and his post conversion life [verses 19 to 23]. And in verse 28 Agrippa said to Paul, You almost persuade me to be a Christian. You can't make people become Christians, that is the convicting work of the Holy Spirit, but you can present a good case for why they should consider the gospel of Jesus Christ. It says in 1 Peter chapter 3 verse 15 that when asked you are to give a reason for the hope that is in you. Your testimony is a wonderful opportunity to share how God has changed your life.
Richard Bowdery's testimony I was first introduced to the Christian faith as a teenager at a church youth club. Although I continued to have a casual involvement with the church for more than a decade, I displayed little outward desire to accept Jesus Christ as my Saviour. But God did not give up on me and in July 1986, at the age of 29, I was born again.
Over the next 20 years the Lord has cut a lot of deadwood out of my life, so that a sure foundation could be laid. In many ways this proved to be a painful experience, and on more than one occasion I almost gave up on my Christian walk. It was during these times that the Lord gave me a promise from his word, You, who have shown me great and severe troubles, shall revive me again, and bring me up from the depths of the earth. Psalm 71 verse 20. This promise kept me going during my many times of struggle.
In the early 1990's the Lord called me to a ministry of encouragement and evangelism. In 1994 I met Alf Cracknell and a year later we were proclaiming the gospel together.
Today that promise from Psalm 71 has been fulfilled and I am going on with God because of that sure foundation in my life: the chief cornerstone being the Lord Jesus Christ!
Alf Cracknell's testimony I was led to the Lord by a Church of England lay reader early in 1970 at the age of 35. I was baptized in a Baptist church, and served the Lord for many years in a Shaftesbury Society evangelical fellowship. Since my conversion I have been involved in various forms of outreach, often in a leadership capacity. I am now full time in the Lords work and also an associate member of Open Air Campaigners.
I have no denominational preference but in the words of the Apostle Paul, I seek to preach Jesus Christ and Him crucified, and to encourage Christians in their walk with the Lord.
My conversion to Jesus Christ has meant a radical change in my life, and I can testify to our Father's words, ... behold I make all things new!
Over the years I have learned that the Christian life is one of continual growth and change and that it brings a wonderful realisation of the grace of God.
